RESULTS! Wow! How Could I Forget? (before & after photos)

I can't believe I forgot to post my before and after photos!

What a moron!

Here they are!

(Wow, my bangs are jacked up!)

I will post photos again after I can do another successful fast!

Stay tuned!!!!

the Harder the Battle the Sweeter the Victory

I’m sorry it’s been so long since my last update.  I told you in the beginning I would suck at this.

I’ve had some victories (and some failures) since my last entry.

Since my pulled pork sandwich fiasco on January 30th I’ve been going to the gym at least 3 times a week.  Granted I mainly walk on the treadmill for an hour, but I’ve improved my stamina for sure!  On the first day I went I could only walk at 2.0MPH with no incline…now I’m able to walk the entire hour at 3.7MPH with a 1.0 incline.  (I’m still too scared to try running.)  I also recently added weight resistance using my Total Gym to my workout routines.  I would like to incorporate Jillian Michael’s 30 Day Shred and DDP Yoga.

If you want to be truly inspired, check out this video about Arthur who used DDP Yoga to get his life back:

I have been caffeine free since January 5th.  I loved my coffee, but I really don’t miss it much at all.  Since giving up coffee I figure I’ve saved about 60 dollars a month.  I also challenged my husband to give up coffee for one full week to see how he feels.  He did it and felt so good that he now mainly drinks decaf.

In mid-March my husband and I vacationed in Mexico with another couple.  It was FABULOUS!  Before going I bought some new clothes.  I looked online for some sundresses but was unsuccessful.  While I was out one day I happened to walk past Express and saw a really pretty sundress in the display window.  My first thought was “I’m too big for any of the clothes in this store.  I haven’t bought anything here since high school!”  I fought these thoughts and went in.  I got that dress off the rack and for some reason grabbed a size medium.  I tried it on and IT FIT!  What a great feeling!

While in Mexico I started out eating right.  I had fruits and vegetables and even found some green juice!

I also managed to get a couple of days in at the gym!

We walked everywhere and I broke a personal daily record on my FitBit:

We had a WONDERFUL time!  And the good news is that I only gained 2.5 pounds while on vacation.  The last vacation we were on I gained ten pounds!

I entered a contest at the gym called Hollywood Fit Club.

There are three ways to “win”:
  • Gym Attendance
  • Inches Lost
  • Body Fat Percentage Lost
Your celebrity alias gets posted on a board at the gym along with your stats.  The contest runs from April 13th to June 8th.  I chose Bettie Page as my celebrity alias.  Lol

I entered the Titletown Bike Tour which takes place on July 12th.  I will be biking 100 Kilometers (that’s a little over 62 miles!!!) to support cancer awareness and presentations to students to help reduce their risk.  I think health education is SO important!  Obesity is fast surpassing tobacco as the number one cause of cancer.  Yikes!
If you’d like to support my team’s fundraiser for the event visit:

I am also happy to announce that since my first day of fasting on January 5th until now April 13th I have went down 3 jean sizes!  I was wearing a size 32, now I can fit into a 29!  (My waist is not 29 inches, so I’m not sure how they come up with these sizes.)

I’ve been frequenting the local juice bar.  They have wheatgrass and ginger shots along with a variety of healthy menu items.

Sometimes I even order two juices as my meal!

I’m also now friends with the manager and she recently invited me to go skating with her on the local trail.  She used to be the head of a roller derby team… super cool!

I know that I’ve had a lot of victories in my juicing journey and I’m heading in the right direction, but the numbers disappoint me considering how much effort I’ve been putting in.

I started juicing on January 5th, 2015 weighing 177 pounds.

I juice fasted for 18 days total through January 31st and my ending weight was 163.5.

That’s a 13.5 pound loss which I’m very happy with.

It’s the following months that were a disappointment.

Here is my chart:

So my chart shows that in 71 days I only managed to lose 4.5 pounds.  Considering how often I went to the gym it seems very disappointing.  I tried to eat right and limit portions.  Most days I juiced and just had a snack like a granola bar or some nuts.  A handful of days I had one meal.  I never drank over 64 ounces of juice.

My head is swimming with thoughts like “If it takes this much work to maintain my weight then I’m screwed!”

I wanted to do a 30 day fast starting April 1st, but I didn’t even make it to day 3.

I’m going to my best to do a full on fast starting today.  I should probably also keep a juice/food log.  Maybe on the days I’m not juice fasting I’m eating more than I think.

I’m distressed, but I’m not giving up!
